Montreal, March 27, 2008 - GALERIE MX with the collaboration of artist NIKO: In honor of the 10th anniversary of V-Day, GALERIE MX is very proud to present the readings of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" under the direction of Joel Legendre. With Special guest stars Ginette Reno, Tara Spencer-Nairn, Eva Avila, Kim D'Eon, Sophie Gregoire, Patsy Gallant, Nathalie Lauzon, Marie-Josee Turcotte, and Genevieve Saint-Germain. A representative from TELUS, will also be onboard reading from the celebrated book. ----NIKO's work---- This special event will showcase the works of Montreal artist NIKO. The exhibition will feature forty-five works that were produced and inspired by the monologues that will be read throughout the evening. NIKO's energetic works are bold and emulate the strength and beauty of women; she expresses sensuality through her vibrant and multi-layered canvases. ----GALERIE MX---- GALERIE MX is a major Montreal venue for displaying visual art. Its mission is the promotion of local and international creative talent. Founded only a year and a half ago, GALERIE MX is already among Montreal's top contemporary art galleries. Located in the international quarter, it has been looking for artists that have gone beyond the technique, gestual and composition of the norm. According to Francois Lauzon, GALERIE MX co-owner: "Even though all of these elements are essential to the quality of the work, they remain secondary to the artist if they are without soul and a unique style". Recently, GALERIE MX was selected to present the photographs of Andy Summers (of the musical group The Police) and also hosted the Second edition of the international exhibition AU FIL DE L'ART and DOMINIC BESNER in November 2007.
